Lakhey - लाखे

Lakhey is one of the most iconic masked figures in Newar culture, especially during Indra Jatra in Kathmandu Valley. Fierce in appearance but protective in spirit, Lakhey is widely understood as a guardian presence whose wild movement, mask, and energy carry both fear and protection at once. That dual force is what gives Lakhey such lasting weight in Nepali cultural memory.
