Prayer Flags - लुंगटा

The wind is meant to do the reading.

Each flag is printed with mantras and raised where the air moves, over rooftops, monasteries and high mountain passes. The colours run in a fixed order. Blue, white, red, green, yellow, for sky, air, fire, water and earth. The belief is that every gust carries the prayer outward across the valley. Nobody takes them down when the ink goes pale. Fading is the point.
