Gaida - गैंडा
Nepal built its first national park around one animal.
The greater one-horned rhino lives in two places on Earth. The floodplains of southern Nepal and a thin strip of northeast India. Nowhere else. Its grey hide folds into heavy plates, so much like riveted armour that early travellers took it for metal. Fewer than a hundred were left not long ago. An armed patrol has walked the Chitwan grasslands since 1961, and the country has gone entire years without losing a single one.
