Bir Binayak - वीर विनायक
He let the axe take his tusk rather than dishonour it.
A sage came to the mountain door, and the boy guarding it refused him entry. The sage threw his axe. The boy recognised the blade as a gift from his own father and stood still to receive it. This is Ganesha, elephant-headed son of Shiva, honoured before any other god at the start of a wedding, a rite, a journey. Bir Binayak is the rare warrior form of him. The gentlest god, holding an axe.
Front: The syllable ga, crowned in flame.
