Rudragni - रुद्राग्नि

He drank the poison that would have ended the world.

Rudra is Shiva in his form of destruction. A third eye rests closed at the centre of his brow, and what it opens on, it does not spare. When poison rose from the churned ocean and threatened everything living, he swallowed it himself. Burning, he flew to the Himalaya and drove his trident into the rock. The mountain split and cold water filled it. That lake is Gosaikunda. Pilgrims still climb to bathe in it.
